Now I Really Feel Dumb - Ta Alex

PRE-SCHOOL TEST FOR YOU
Which way is the bus below traveling?
To the left or to the right?

Can't make up your mind?

Look carefully at the picture again.

Still don't know?

Kinder kids all over U.K. were shown this picture asked the same question.

90% of the kinder kids gave this answer.

"The bus is traveling to the right."

When asked,

"Why do you think the bus is traveling to the right?"

They answered:
"Because you can't see the door to get on the bus."

How do you feel now???

I know, me too.

DUDE.

Some guy I went to grammar school with posted the most disgusting photo on his Facebook page, and I can't seem to make it go away. I "hid" him from my News Feed immediately upon seeing it pop up this morning, but now it's showing up in my "Highlights" sidebar and I can't make it STOPPPPPP!

What is this photo of, you might ask? Well, it is of his partially-amputated big fucking toe, that's what. YEAH. As in, a big toe hanging on by a thread of skin, with a GD bone poking out. MY EYES! MY EEEEYYYYYEESSSSS! Why, oh why, would you ever post such a horrifying and disgusting picture? Why would you even want to remember that something this awful happened to your poor toesies? I don't get it, and neither does this horrified redneck I found online just now. Look at him; he's simply agog!

While I try to scrub the mental image of a mangled toe from my mind's eye, I'll tell you what else is shakin'. Wait for it.... Nothing! Yes, absolutely nothin'. I went and had my hair all did last night, so that was fun. I'm feeling sassy today. Laurie told me last week that I have "Rock Star" hair, which made me proud, because I'd rather have Rock Star hair than Soccer Mom hair, that's fo' sho'. I am way too young for Soccer Mom hair or Mom Jeans, despite my impending birthday.

Switching gears!

The other day, someone reminded me of those Myers Briggs Personality tests that they use to categorize you and tell you what kind of job you'd be good at, etc. I found a quick one online and thought it might be fun to take it. I'll throw it out here for you guys to take it too, and if you feel like sharing your results in the comments section, knock yo'selves out. You know I dig that kind of thing!!

Performers have the special ability, even among the Artisans, to delight those around them with their warmth, their good humor, and with their often extraordinary skills in music, comedy, and drama. Whether on the job, with friends, or with their families, Performers are exciting and full of fun, and their great social interest lies in stimulating those around them to take a break from work and worry, to lighten up and enjoy life."

An Extravert who tries to make others take a break from work & worry? Moi? No way. ;-)

Day late, dollar short

Better late than never, I'm back on the blogging horse after getting kicked around a bit last weekend. Of course, I didn't break any more teeth this weekend, so I'm gonna go ahead and call it a success, mmkay?

First things first. Summer has finally reached New Hampshire. YEEEESSSSSSSSS! I know it's July, but beggars can't be choosers and I'm just so glad to be getting some vitamin D that I will forgive Mother Nature for enveloping us in rain and cold for the past 6 weeks. It's all good, Mama, just keep bringing us more of that good stuff!

Does this picture scream "summer" at you or what?

Okay, so this 4th of July weekend may very well go down in "Bevstory" as one of my least favorite, despite spending it with some of my favorite people. We did our best to be chipper and enjoy ourselves, but I'm afraid I felt a little Eeyore-ish nevertheless. I had a migraine, but we still managed to rock it out on Saturday night and play a little Rock Band 2. I had forgotten that my sister can actually carry a tune, which makes me jealous and proud all at the same time! She agreed that I get points for enthusiasm, however, so it's all good.

Before that, we went to a little 4th celebration in the town next to ours, where we saw some fun critters like this big-ass tortoise:

and this even bigger-ass snake:

and I almost got pooped on by this big-ass bird:

But, the kids enjoyed themselves:

On Sunday we all got up early and drove up to Vermont to attend our dad's memorial service and burial. It was a huge bummer, but a beautiful day and the service was lovely. I have been blessed with some truly wonderful friends and family. I was so grateful to have some of them come to the service to sit with me and help me get through the last farewell. Knowing that they'd give up a beautiful Sunday on a holiday weekend & drive 2+ hours north just to spend a tough hour with me filled me with enormous comfort and gratitude. I was also so touched by personal notes and messages from others.

After the service we went to the grave site for the burial, and it was as comical as ever. Things run differently up in the north country, as we learned two years ago when we buried grandma there. Basically, nobody showed up to dig the damn hole, so for grandma's service it was just us standing around scratching our heads until somebody produced a shovel and dug a hole big enough for the cremation box. CLASSY. This time, my mother had had the foresight to send my cousin up there the day before, so he went up and dug the hole. Fuckin A, dude. For real??

So, we got there, the minister said some lovely words, and we did the deed and covered it up ourselves. We bury our own up nawth, whether we want to or not. After, we all stood around and admired the amazing day and gorgeous views. It is truly a lovely final resting spot, and Dad would have loved watching his grandchildren run around. In fact, I think he probably did enjoy watching it on Sunday.

Dad would have loved the weather: blue sky, sunshine, not too hot, with a nice cool breeze. It made me think of a poem, which has always been one of my favorites:

i thank you God for most this amazing by E. E. Cummings

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
wich is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

So, that is that. I started today with a serious case of the Mondays, but I'm back on track now and promise to post something funnier tomorrow. :)

Just struck us funny

On Wednesday when we saw The Hangover (Go see it. I mean it, go now... well, after you finish reading this post. Then, go.) we also went out to lunch. In the parking lot of the restaurant, there was a business offering extra help for students in math and reading.

Check this out, and tell me you don't think it's a little funny:

"Kum-on, kid! Be more smarter! You don't want to be a sad sack like this little drawing guy, do ya?! Read more better! Mathy-math do more! Kum-on!"

Who's the graphic designing GENIUS who came up with that logo? Right freakin' on, dude. You nailed it.

Anywho.

My day started out badly with a migraine and more stress than I normally allow myself, but got slightly better as it wore on despite having homicidal thoughts about my oldest child for a good solid hour this afternoon. We have my sister and her fam visiting tonight, and tomorrow we all drive to VT for my dad's memorial service. Do I know how to party or WHAT? Try not to be too jealous of my fabulous life, ok?

Anyway! Hope you're all having a good ol' time. I'm sneaking in some laptop lovin' while J and my BIL play Wii baseball. My redneck neighbors behaved themselves this year and only did about 20 minutes of fireworks followed by "Hillbilly firecrackers," AKA gunshots. I prefer not to know what was shot.

Tomorrow my sister and I are gonna root through my mom's "vault" and get some doozies for ya. Yahooooo!

I got yer 1000 words right here!

I just cleaned off the pictures from my cell phone, and it was a bit of a trip down memory lane. My cell takes terrible pictures, but I do find myself using it whenever I forget my real camera and something good happens, or when I forget to charge up my camera battery and it gets "exhausted," but I'm still feeling snap-happy. I think these blurry little photos tell a story all on their own, and you all know how I feel about pictures by now, riiiiight?

They're worth 1,000 words. A THOUSAND WORDS! That's a lot!

So, without further ado, I give you the contents of my cell phone pix folder (minus a few nudey shots, naturally).

My backyard this morning. Hey look, it's raining. For a change.

Bring out the gimp!

Getting them both to smile at the same time is like creating the perfect storm.

PUCKER UP, kiddo! Mama needs some sweaty lovin'.

Beeeeeep, beeeeeep.

Not so Super Cuts.

Get out the bowl!

Mala so crazy!

Hey look, it's a flower.

The 3 Bruthas Jam Band. It's an action photo, yo.

Just plain creepy.

Bros on a plane.

Sarah and I were pouting last winter. Don't remember why; all of my molars were still intact at this point!

Show me love!

Wicked killah tatts, dood.

Watchin' the original (horrible) Incredible Hulk. Between the two of them, my sons are wearing a complete outfit.

Yes, that is my kid going all "Cornholio" on the dance floor. I think he was doing the worm. No, really.

Hope you enjoyed the random weirdness! I'm off for the rest of the week, but since I'm not going anywhere good, I will likely still be around to stalk your blogs and dump the paltry contents of my brain out onto this page. No, thank you.

Google Horror - warning, spoilers ahead

I have discovered that as much as I love watching my favourite TV shows on DVD, sometimes it comes back and bites me on the arse.
Take One Tree Hill for example. I have been having a wonderful couple of months working my way through the first three seasons, blissfully unaware of upcoming story lines. Until recently that is!! I have got a friend hooked too, as we all need someone to share the joy, and we stupidly read the back cover of Season 4 only to discover that a much beloved character is dead. This meant that for the last half of season three we have been waiting for the awful deed to happen. We have learnt our lesson and HAVE NOT read the back of season 5.
.

R.I.P. Keith Scott

This is not the end of my tragedy - You may already know but I have a huge girl-crush on one of the characters, Brooke Davis, played by Sophia Bush. She and Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) are finally back together and all is right in my world....

UNTIL I did something monumentally stupid and googled!! Never, ever google unless you are prepared for the consequences.

While trawling for 'Lucas Scott' pictures to go over at 'Stars Hollow' I was confronted with THIS.... (AVERT YOUR EYES ALISON)

Even for those of you who have no idea who I am talking about it is pretty obvious that the girl sharing LUCAS' BED is NOT in fact the lovely Brooke!
Maybe it is for the best and hopefully by the time Peyton does end up in Lucas' bed I will have reconciled myself to the fact and Brooke (and I) will have moved on.

So heed my advice and DO NOT GOOGLE a beloved show unless you are prepared to stand by your decision.
