Twilight Candy

Last night I went and saw TWILIGHT with a group of friends. We all loved it (apart from Carlisle's hair) and the discussion turned to casting, and to the relative 'hotness' of the characters. We decided that 1. Edward grows on you and we all now LOVE him. 2. James was HOT for such an evil bastard. 3. Jacob is going to be hot and 4. Charlie was not hot but perfectly cast.

So to celebrate the ultimate teenage love story here is ...
TWILIGHT EYE CANDY

Number One - Cam Gigandet as 'James'

and Cam as himself....

Number 2 - Robert Pattinson - 'Edward Cullen'

Number 3 - Taylor Lautner - 'Jacob Black'

and as himself .....

and finally Number 4 - Billy Burke - 'Charlie Swan'

TWILIGHT - Discussion Questions

A few people have asked about book group discussion questions and as I don't know how else to share them I have had to post them here - sorry to those of you who haven't read the book. Hopefully there are no spoilers for anyone wanting to read it.
I have borrowed a few questions from fan forums and I thank those people, whoever you are.

TWILIGHT - Stephanie Meyer

Were you able to suspend disbelief? Did you think SM created a real and believable story?

Did you find the characters engaging and did they ring true?

Did you have a real sense of Bella experiencing a typical first love even though there was nothing typical about her or her first love. Did you think Bella's reactions were realistic?

Did you feel the tension as Edward was learning to control his hunger?

Who was your favourite secondary character and why?

Meyer says that the concept of "choice" is an important one to her. How does the book illustrate that concept?

Do you think that Bella is a strong or a weak woman? Is she a good role model for young women? How does she fit with your view of feminism?

What about Edward as a role model for young men?

Which character (main or secondary) do you relate to most? Why?

What was your first impression of Twilight? Did you think that it was a good introduction to the series? Why or why not?

What was your first impression of Edward and the Cullens?

What if the main roles were reversed? Do you think the story would have been similar if Bella was the vampire?

Why is it that Bella's blood calls to Edward more than anyone else?

Why does Bella accept that fact that Edward is a vampire so quickly?

What are your opinions about Bella & Edward's relationship, and why?

Do you think that the fact Bella had to take care of her Mother, and to an extent, Charlie, attracted her to the strength in Edward – someone was taking care of her for a change?

From Charlie’s point of view, what do you believe is his opinion of Edward before, then after the run-in with James, Victoria, and Laurent?

Did Stephanie Meyer's portrayal of Vampires appeal to you or do you prefer the more traditional view? (coffins, bats, etc)

Did this book change your view of vampires? If so, how? Is it a positive or negative change?

What is the significance of the Cover photo? (Forbidden Fruit.)

Why the title - Twilight? (The safest time of day for a Vampire.)(originally titled 'Forks')

Does the young adult classification ever deter you and do you think that this book fits that classification?

Will you read the sequels?

Keep Them Coming

One of the best things about having a blog is the wonderful comments and recommendations I get from regular readers. One of the best parts of my day is opening up my email and finding comments left on my blog. It still gives me such a thrill.

This week I have been following up on a couple of suggestions from fellow bloggers and it has been well worth the effort.

First up Lou from Totally Innocent was astounded to find out that I had never experienced the joy that is 'Stand By Me'.

She had watched it with her boys recently and told me I just had to see it. A couple of days later I stumbled across it in K-Mart for $8.00 and knew I had to get it. That was a couple of weeks ago I it was only last night that I finally got around to watching it.

Well Lou, you'll be pleased to know that I loved it. I found it an absolutely delightful movie and can see why it enjoys such 'classic' status. The performances were spot on and it was a very poignant tale told with grace and humour. It's now on my 'must see' list for anyone else who is yet to see it.

Last night I received a message from Whitney in America who had been looking at my book list and wanted to know if I had read 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyer. This is part of the message she left me....

"I was reading your list of books you have read and what you are reading and I have to say YOU NEED TO READ Twilight http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html It is right up your alley. It is a teen romance . It is one of those that make you want to have that giddy, just met the perfect boy, does he notice me, should I drive by his house feeling again."

Needless to say after that introduction I literally rushed to the Sun Bookshop to see if Deb could get it in for me. Just my luck, a shipment was arriving that afternoon and she promised to call me as soon as it arrived. Apparently she is just as big a fan as Whitney and can't believe I haven't experienced the joy. At 5.45 my phone rang with the good news and I now have books 1 and 2 of the Twilight series in my hot little hands. Stay tuned for my review.... I can't wait.

So THANK YOU to Lou and Whitney and all you other bloggers and Lurkers please feel free to send me your recommendations - share the joy around.
