Scared Weird Little Guys

Tonight Surfer Boy and I are actually going out TOGETHER!  We usually find that these days we end up going to things individually so someone is home with the kids but tonight we get to actually go on a date.
Our lovely (and hilarious) friend Rusty has invited us to see his final show at The Atheaneum Theatre.  Rusty is one half of the 'Scardies' who are performing their final tour after 21 years and four and a half thousand shows together!
Enough Already is their farewell tour and I'm so rapt that we get to see it.

'I'll leave your names at the door'  Who doesn't want to hear that every now and then?

Post Script - We just got home and I can honestly say we have not had that much fun in a long long time.  The boys were in fantastic form and were hilarious.  They will be sorely missed.  You must see them if you can!

She became famous for her starring roles in Bye Bye Birdie, Viva Las Vegas, The Cincinnati Kid, Carnal Knowledge, and Tommy. Her later career includes character roles in Grumpy Old Men, Any Given Sunday, The Santa Clause 3, and The Break-Up.

On top of all this she dated Elvis Presley and is one of the cutest sex kittens ever to grace the screen.

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor was an icon in the truest sense of the word long before she passed away yesterday at the age of 79.

I think this is my favourite photo of Liz - candid, relaxed and relishing the sun on her face.  Perfect.

Nicole Kidman

She's not high on my list of favourite people but she's married to 'my Keith' and I love this image of her.  Good luck tonight Nicole.

Finally

I ordered CDs online because I wasn't sure how long it would take me to get to the shops and the little buggers took a week and a half to send them anyway!

The postie just delivered them so I now have this in my hot little hands at last.

You can imagine how inappropriately loud this will be playing in the shop today!

Before you scoff just be glad I'm not playing the other CD that arrived today....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SURFER BOY

It was Surfer Boy's 40th birthday during the week and tonight we are taking 40 family and  friends to see his favourite movie.  It may come as a surprise but his favourite film is the 1956 musical -
HIGH SOCIETY.
Not the movie anyone was expecting - except his family who are responsible for him knowing every word and song.  Coming from a family with 4 sisters he was bound to be influenced and I for one am rapt that we are seeing this and not his second favourite film - PLATOON.

C.K. Dexter-Haven, a successful popular jazz musician, lives in a mansion near his ex-wife's Tracy Lord's family estate. She is on the verge of marrying a man blander and safer than Dex, who tries to win Tracy's heart again. Mike Connor, an undercover tabloid reporter, also falls for Tracy while covering the nuptials for Spy magazine. Tracy must choose between the three men as she discovers that "safe" can mean "deadly dull" when it comes to husbands and life.(IMDB)

North & South

Another big night planned with these two!
The South has declared it's Independence and war is in the air - don't do it boys.  Stay home!

You'd think I'd be more composed having read the books and seen the mini series before but I'm just as pathetically involved as the first time I met Orry and George.

Night Out

I took a friend to see HAIRSPRAY - The Musical last night at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne and let me just say that it was BRILLIANT.
I have reviewed it over here so I won't repeat myself suffice to say that I will be saving my pennies to go again as soon as possible.

4 More Sleeps

As some of you know Krissa and I are off to Sydney on the weekend to indulge in our favourite pass time - Zac Watching (some may call it unhealthy stalking but we maintain otherwise) .  We have talked about this over at Stars Hollow - in brief we have been invited to the red-carpet premiere of Zac's new film 'Charlie St Cloud' where the man himself will be in attendance.

I am becoming a little concerned that K and I may irreparably damage our reputations by becoming overwhelmed and behaving inappropriately when Zac enters our orbit, therefore I have been trying to desensitize myself by watching footage of the boy in the hope that I will be completely 'ho-hum' by Sunday.
Judging by the excessive drooling and elevated heart rate I'm going to assume that so far it is not working.
I will persevere and let you know how I'm going.... I'm not confident though.

Check this out and tell me you aren't trembling slightly at the knees!!

Dancing With The Stars

It's happy times at our house tonight.  Gidget and I spend Sunday night ensconced in front of Dancing With The Stars and it is the highlight of my gorgeous daughter's week and therefore mine too.
At the beginning of each season we both pick someone to barrack for and tonight both our dancers made it through to the Grand Final.
So Tamara and Rob - Congratulations

All the love may leave the room next weekend when ultimately one of our dancers will lose!  May not be quite so fun then.

Movie Of The Week - CRAZY HEART

Synopsis: JEFF BRIDGES stars as the richly comic, semi-tragic romantic anti-hero Bad Blake in the debut feature film CRAZY HEART from writer-director Scott Cooper. Bad Blake... Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man’s crazy heart.
